Employment and HR: The Essentials

An informal networking and training session delivered by the Employment Law experts Mandy Armstrong and Robin Turnbull, from the award winning Employment and Pensions Unit at Anderson Strathern.

The aim of the session was to provide an informal and friendly setting for managers and those working in HR to network and expand professional networks, whilst benefiting from the mutual sharing of knowledge and personal experience. The training outlined tips for handling basic employment law and HR issues in areas including:
· How do you recruit and employ within the law?
· How do you deal with pay, holidays and managing absence?
· How do you handle disciplinary and grievance issues?
· What is a fair dismissal and, if it is not, what are the consequences?
· What impact will Brexit have?

It was particularly helpful to owners/managers of start-up businesses or SME’s who do not have the benefit of an HR or employment law advisor and HR advisors in the early stages of their career, but we are hoping that other people also benefited from the meeting.
